The current week has been witnessing many denials in Kollywood, more than it saw in the entire last month. Two particulars, however, stood out for various reasons. Actresses usually stay away from either denying or recognizing having heard rumours about themselves but in the instant case, both Asin and Lakshmi Rai issued press releases to clarify their stance in their respective cases.
It is said Asin had separated from her parents, who had literally told her not to have any truck with them in future. A leading vernacular daily had reportedly published a news item wherein it claimed that Asin’s father Joseph had commented that ‘Asin has grown wings and had flown away!’ (very filmy, isn’t it?)
Joseph has denied making such statement and claims that Asin is very much with them and hasn’t deserted them. Coming to Lakshmi Rai’s denial, Rai has said that she had ‘nothing’ going with her fitness trainer. Dismissing talks that she was ‘in love’ with her trainer, Rai claims that “The parents of my fitness trainer are on the look out for a suitable bride for him and such irresponsible reporting might even harm his wedding plans!”
Rai has appealed to print media ‘to be careful’ and ‘verify the facts’ before publishing any news item about actors/actresses.
