Asin- Looking beyond London Dreams
Asin is on cloud eleven. She has realised that the more successful you get the number of people trying to bring you down increases.
Contrary to reports that she is terribly upset about the London Dreams fiasco and she has shut herself in her room, we caught up with the actress who is unperturbed about such news.
In fact she was in Hyderabad for a Tata Sky meet, and told sify.com: “I am here for a dealer meet of Tata Sky and I am thoroughly enjoying every moment of it”.
The cool and chirpy actress says: “You can’t compare London Dreams with Ghajini and all the roles I do cannot be like the author-backed one like Kalpana. Even today, if London Dreams was offered to me, I would have taken it up as it was directed by one of the best directors and had two top Bollywood actors. I have no regrets as earlier itself, I knew that the focus was primarily on the friendship between two male characters and everything else was supportive of that.”
There is a harsh criticism about her not signing any new Hindi film after Ghajini release last year. Remember that this is not the first time that Asin is taking long break between films. Her modus operandi of signing films is truly different from her contemporaries. After her Tamil Ghajini went on to be a blockbuster, she refused all films and waited for nearly 9 months to sign her next film.
She adds: “I have always worked like this and I take up projects only if I am excited about the script and there are people in Bollywood who advice me to sign more films, but I am not in a hurry”.
Right now, Asin has taken painting as a passion and hobby something which she left a few years back. And right now, she is a busy bee with photoshoots, endorsements and travelling.

Rumour mills grind Asin and Lakshmi Rai
The current week has been witnessing many denials in Kollywood, more than it saw in the entire last month. Two particulars, however, stood out for various reasons. Actresses usually stay away from either denying or recognizing having heard rumours about themselves but in the instant case, both Asin and Lakshmi Rai issued press releases to clarify their stance in their respective cases.
It is said Asin had separated from her parents, who had literally told her not to have any truck with them in future. A leading vernacular daily had reportedly published a news item wherein it claimed that Asin’s father Joseph had commented that ‘Asin has grown wings and had flown away!’ (very filmy, isn’t it?)
Joseph has denied making such statement and claims that Asin is very much with them and hasn’t deserted them. Coming to Lakshmi Rai’s denial, Rai has said that she had ‘nothing’ going with her fitness trainer. Dismissing talks that she was ‘in love’ with her trainer, Rai claims that “The parents of my fitness trainer are on the look out for a suitable bride for him and such irresponsible reporting might even harm his wedding plans!”
Rai has appealed to print media ‘to be careful’ and ‘verify the facts’ before publishing any news item about actors/actresses.
Trisha, Shriya Saran running out of offers
Actresses Trisha and Shriya Saran are losing out their offers; for they are charging Rs.1 Crore as their remuneration. According to the sources, Tamil film industry’s producers had fixed Rs.60 Lakhs as their remuneration. But, the Telugu film producers have been so generous in hiking their payment to Rs. 1Crore and plus.Instantly, Trisha has got no projects in Tamil except Gowtham Menon’s ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya’. She was supposed to be paired opposite Naga Chaitanya in Telugu remake as well. But as she demanded for a big sum, Gowtham had no options other than replacing her with new hottie Samantha.Similarly, Shriya Charan seems to be running out of offers due to her salary. The unsuccessful actress hasn’t delivered a hit post-Sivaji. Apart from ‘Jaggubhai’, the actress has got ‘Chikku Bhukku’ with Aarya and Dhanush starrer ‘Kutty’.The new entries: Anushka, Thamannah, and Samantha have likely topped the charts overshadowing these actresses now.

Tamil-speaking actress in Kollywood!
Surprised? You might think that all actresses who act in Tamil know the language. But not necessarily. There are many actresses in Tamil cinema today who know the language, but cannot speak fluently and those who can, do not choose to dub their lines (barring a few exceptions of course).

An actress that speaks fluent Tamil
Debutante Chandini proudly announces that she is one Tamil actress who could speak the language fluently. At a time when there is a strong criticism that the Kollywood heroines are not able to mouth their Tamil dialogues fluently, this comes as a welcome respite!
Chandini, a Chennai resident, will make her debut in the K Bagyaraj-directed Sidhu Plus 2. The film has Shanthanu playing the lead. Revealing about the storyline, the actress says that it is about an intelligent and studious girl meeting a dull head and the events that unfold between them.
Sharmila Tagore’s daughter interested in Tamil film
Soha Ali Khan, actress and daughter of Sharmila Tagore, said in an interview that she is keen on working in Tamil and Telugu films. The actress says that she is particularly familiar with Hyderabad in South India and is not averse to working in regional films. She substantiated her interest in regional films by saying that she had worked in Bengali films earlier.
She was quoted by the PTI as saying, “Nobody from Tamil Nadu has approached me with a good film. If they do, then I would certainly consider it.” Are any filmmakers listening?
Geethu – Sexy Indian Actress #5
Mollywood actress Geethu Mohandas, who had acted opposite Madhavan in ‘Nala Dhamayanthi’, will marry her longtime friend Rajiv Ravi, an ace cinematographer who had worked for films like ‘Chandini Bar’ ‘Classmates’ and ‘Dev D’.
The marriage will take place on November 14 in Kochi, say circles close to the actress. Besides ‘Nala Dhamayanthi’, Geethu has done one more film in Tamil- K Balachandar’s ‘Poi’, produced by Prakash Raj.
Geethu and Ravi are in love with each other for the last five years, it is said. The affair was dubbed as “intellectual love” by the Malayalam media and Ravi is her friend, philosopher and guide for a long time now.
It is to be noted that only last month Geethu premiered her debut directorial venture ‘Kelkunundo’, whose cameraman was beyond any doubt Ravi. Grapevine has it that Geethu would direct a Hindi movie post marriage.
